Heyn, associate professor and department head of Classical Studies, UNC-Greensboro, will focus on the fascinating funerary portraits of the inhabitants of Palmyra, looking in particular at the ways in which the deceased would advertise their connections to places far afield with their jewelry, dress and hairstyles, and hand gestures.
